Oil & Acrylic painting for All Levels is geared for painters—the beginner, intermediate and for skills brush up. With ample one-on-one interaction, paint from a simple still life. Gain confidence with instruction on how to get started and get painting! For those who have been painting, work from the still life or a personal photo reference or your original. Composition, brush, palette knife technique and principles of color mixing are covered. Bring more confidence and success into your work! Please bring your supplies for oil or acrylic painting. Call to enroll and sign up in advance as class size is limited.

Recommended supplies: Tube colors; titanium white, cadmium yellow, indian yellow, burnt sienna, burnt umber, French ultramarine, cerulean blue, cadmium red light, alizarin crimson. Brushes: #4, #8 and #10 flats, #2 round, #2 and #4 filberts, a 2” brush for backgrounds, palette knives for mixing color, palette for paint, either one with a lid or traditional wood, paper towels, containers for painting medium or water. Several 11x14 canvas panels are recommended or your preferred surface.

Recommended Supplies: Daniel Smith or Winsor Newton professional water colors or comparable; Cadmium Red Medium, New Gamboge, Quinacridone Gold Deep, Perinone Orange, Magenta, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Utramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Sap Green, Opaque or Chinese White. Small sponge and paper towels, watercolor palette, small water container. Brushes: 1" oval wash, #4 #6 and 10 rounds, 2" wash, large mop (Natural Squirrel). 140lb cold press paper Arches or Fabriano cut into quarter sheets or halves and two pieces mounted onto a painting board using with either tape or staple gun. Drawing materials, pencils and sketch book plus a photo reference.

Spring 2018: Introduction to Figure Drawing with Michael Hagelberg, instructor

Instruction $130 for 6 sessions, includes nude model and easel. Confirm early.

Life drawing basic skills in six sessions with Michael Hagelberg. Limited to eight students. $130 includes nude model and easel, prepayment required in advance of sessions. Sessions include proportion, anatomy, and material tricks! Bring essential supplies including rough newsprint and drawing board, charcoal pencils and sticks, graphite and compressed or hard Nupastel sticks.
Session 1-Gestures and linear drawing  (how to start, flow, mass, line and tone)
Session 2-Geometry (alignment/angles, visual envelope, negative space
Session 3-Measurement (alignment/grid, proportion, points and planes)
Session 4-Masses (articulation, perspective foreshortening, balance)
Session 5-Light and Shade (modeling, reading form, contrast)
Session 6-Drawing  (single pose session)

Spring 2018: Drawing fundamentals with Robin McGee, instructor

Suitable for beginners and artist's 'brushup', sessions include drawing with a variety of materials. Basic tools included in first session, additional materials required for second session. This is an excellent opportunity to work on drawing skills, techniques and concepts for the serious artist. Space is limited and pre-registration required.
